A little while back I got to see Aussie hard rockers Airbourne shred up the stage during a brilliant set in Baltimore, Maryland. The band made up of Joel O’Keeffe guitars/vocals, his brother Ryan O’Keeffe on drums, guitarist David Roads and Justin Street on bass, formed in 2003 and hail from the country town of Warrnambool in my home state of Victoria. They hark back to a classic Aussie rock sound of the 70’s and 80’s with a modern touch that gets the crowd going.

It had been a few years since I had seen this band play back home, but I can tell you they still rock and are as wild as ever! I love this photo I took of Joel O’Keeffe slamming beer cans on his head during the gig. Then he is playing guitar on the venues bar and later in the crowd on the shoulders of a roadie. He is the ultimate wild man and the crowd loved it!

Their show is hard to match for energy and entertainment and the songs are classic tongue in cheek rock numbers such as Diamond in the Rough and Blonde, Bad & Beautiful. Great fun! They have 3 great albums: Runnin’ Wild (2008), No Guts, No Glory (2010) and their new one Black Dog Barking (2013). Check out their music and don’t miss a live Airbourne show if you get the chance. You will love it!
