Finally some concrete news regarding the casting of Star Wars: Episode VII! This new movie in the Star Wars franchise is being produced by Disney (who bought the Lucasfilm name and rights last year) and is due for worldwide release on December 18th, 2015.
The good news following so many rumours is that a number of original cast members are reprising their roles. The Star Wars team announced the following today (note: anything in brackets I have added):
Actors John Boyega (Attack the Block), Daisy Ridley (TV actress), Adam Driver (Lincoln), Oscar Isaac (The Bourne Legacy, Sucker Punch), Andy Serkis (Gollum in Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit), Domhnall Gleeson (Bill Weasley in some of the early Harry Potter movies), and Max von Sydow (Flash Gordon, Conan the Barbarian the list goes on! Potential Dark Lord of the Sith or the Force ghost of Obi Wan Kenobi?) will join the original stars of the saga: Harrison Ford (Han Solo), Carrie Fisher (Princess Leia), Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker), Anthony Daniels (C-3PO), Peter Mayhew (Chewbacca), and Kenny Baker (R2-D2) in the new film (most of these people are in the following photo just released excluding Kenny Baker, but R2-D2 is there in the packing case!).

Star Wars: Episode VII is being directed by J.J. Abrams from a screenplay by Lawrence Kasdan and J.J. Abrams . Kathleen Kennedy, J.J. Abrams, and Bryan Burk are producing, and John Williams returns as the composer (epic!).
Director J.J. Abrams says:
“We are so excited to finally share the cast of Star Wars: Episode VII. It is both thrilling and surreal to watch the beloved original cast and these brilliant new performers come together to bring this world to life, once again. We start shooting in a couple of weeks, and everyone is doing their best to make the fans proud.”
May the Force be with you in 2015 I say!
Reblogged this on Deano In America.
I still think that Darth Vader and the Death Star are terribly misunderstood 😉
Ha, yes I tend to agree!
