Lascelles Silo Art

The Lascelles Silo Art leg of the Wimmera-Mallee Silo Art Trail was completed in early July 2017 by street artist Rone. The more than 30 metre high, photorealistic art at Lascelles is a little different from the other art projects on the stunning silo art trail of the Wimmera-Mallee (Brim, Patchewollock, Sheep Hills, Rupanyup and up next Rosebery) as it features art on two sides of the silo.

The fantastic art features local couple Geoff and Merrilyn Horman looking out across the countryside. Their families have lived and farmed their wheat fields in the Lascelles region for four generations (the tradition is continued on by their two sons and their families)

Rone wanted to portray locals who embodied the spirit of the Lascelles region. Upon meeting the residents of the town they all apparently soon said the Horman’s should be the ones featured on the Lascelles Silo Art (July 2017)

Geoff and Merrilyn were born in the region and married in 1967. Rone gave them quite a 50th wedding anniversary gift!
